Today we’re incredibly excited to introduce Pablo Mayor’s No te Vayas — which translates as a kind of sweet and wishful ‘Don’t Go’ — a love ballad after a first date. No te Vayas is a sneak peak of new work from Pablo, a Colombian composer, producer, player and band leader who has spent over 20 years exploring and expressing contemporary Latin American music.
No te Vayas is a Preview Release. On majr, artists bring music to life and share that process with new and existing fans. Today’s preview includes a 2:02 cut of the track, as well as production voice memos, lyric commentary and behind-the-scenes clips of studio recording sessions.
Meet Pablo Mayor From Cali, Colombia, Pablo dedicated his first sixteen years in NYC to writing, producing, and promoting Colombian music including three albums with his band the Folklore Urbano Orchestra and an international tour. Mayor’s music has been featured by Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro‑Latin Jazz Orchestra (his Colombian porro “Mercado en Domingo” recorded on ALJO’s Grammy award‑winning album released 2014 Offense of the Drum), and Pablo’s arrangements recorded by Totó la Momposina.
Folklore Urbano was founded in 1999, and bridges traditional and contemporary sounds, as well as unifying musicians and audiences. Folklore Urbano also has an educational program- Cumbia for kids. This program, led by Pablo Mayor and Anna Povich De Mayor, showcases the rich and vibrant dance traditions of Columbia.
Pablo Mayor is founder and producer of NYC’s Colombian music festival Encuentro NYC spanning over 16 years. Since 2016, Pablo has been in residence at iD Studio Theater in the South Bronx, and continues 20 years as resident composer for the company (featuring over 100 compositions bridging styles and genres).
